President, Wirt County Economic and Development Authority Elizabeth, West Virginia (3 Years)
Dr. Busch was appointed by the Wirt County Commission to led the Wirt County (West Virginia) Economic and Development Authority which is responsible for economic development, business and industry recruitment and retention, and infrastructure development especially as related to improving the business and industry climate for the county. While the Authority experienced a number of significant accomplishments during his tenure, his greatest accomplishment may well have been a major infrastructure project that led to a multi-million dollar re-routing of State Route 14 on Elizabeth Hill which was a barrier to businesses and industry moving to the region. He worked directly with West Virginia Governor Gaston Caperton and state and regional government officials to secure the roadway project and, when the announcement was made, had the honor to introduce the Governor, per his request, and jointly deliver the news to the media and community that the substandard roadway was being re-routed and improved. Today, the new roadway is in place and the county is in a much better condition to attract and retain business and industry.
“Gregg worked very well with law enforcement as the Wirt County Medical Examiner … not always a pleasant job but Gregg was always pleasant to work with.”
