  • Doctor of Education: Higher Education Administration and Leadership and scholar of higher education student success and access.
  • Nearly two decades of progressive community college experience having served as an adjunct faculty member, assistant professor, program coordinator, director, an academic dean (twice), honors college dean, a college liaison, chief academic officer, vice president, and a member of the community college board of trustees and more than 30 years of real world executive leadership experience and entrepreneurship in both the private and public sectors.
  • A national leading authority on student success, accreditation, dual enrollment, and student transfer serving as a Content Expert for Complete College America, member of the Peer Review Corps for the Higher Learning Commission, a member of the National Committee for Higher Education for College in High School Alliance, and a regular presenter of contemporary issues facing community colleges at national, state, and local conferences.
  • A statewide leader having served in several statewide leadership roles including the Statewide Team Lead and Statewide Implementation Lead for Complete College Arizona, the statewide secretary and executive committee member of the Ohio Transfer Council, a founding leader of the Ohio Diversity Officers Collaboration, and a statewide leader of Arizona dual enrollment.
  • A seasoned academic leader having led faculties up to 1,300 full- and part-time members in both union and non-union environments. I have served multi-campus colleges in rural, suburban, and large urban communities with student enrollments ranging from 2,500 to 44,000 and student demographics which ranged from very homogeneous to very diverse including an Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).  I have a keen understanding of the complexities of fully integrating academic services, student services, workforce development, and administrative services into a well-balanced college.
  • An experienced change agent with a strong record of having successfully led large scale reform at the institutional, community, state, and national levels.
  • A successful grant writer, fundraiser, and fiscal manager have co-authored multi-million dollar US Department of Education Title III grants, minority-serving institution grants, and led multiple fund- and friend-raising initiatives.  I have served on the college foundation board of trustees and worked closely with benefactors while managing multi-million dollar budgets, and, as the State Team Lead for Complete College Arizona, collaborated with large educational foundations to support statewide student success initiatives.
  • An acclaimed teaching, scholarship, service, and leadership record.  The recipient of several honors including the finalist for the 2018 AZ Transfer Advocate Award from the AZ Transfer Council, 2017 Pima Community College Board of Governors Recognition for Excellence in Service to the Community, 2015 On The Cutting Edge Award for College-wide Innovation, 2015 Honorary Membership by Phi Theta Kappa (Beta Theta Eta), 2014 Presidential Recognition Award for Commitment to Excellence in Service to the College, 2013 Presidential Recognition Award for Strategic Enrollment Management, 2012 Presidential Recognition Award for Curriculum Leadership, 2010 Honorary Membership by Phi Theta Kappa (Alpha Rho Gamma), 2008 National Excellence Award for Teaching and Leadership from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD), thrice named the WVU Parkersburg Professor of the Year, twice named the SBR Distinguished Professorship, recipient of the President’s Medal for Team Excellence, and named in the Top 2000 Great Educators Worldwide by Cambridge University.
